ABOUT THE PROJECT
To integrate socio-economic and biodiversity conservation objectives the project will focus on river turtles as biodiversity conservation “flagships” that deliver important ecosystem services and elicit strong affinity in people for wild species and their habitats.
This integration will help generate effective conservation solutions within a unique socio-economic development scenario for the Brazilian Amazon (Amapa State).
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

Data sharing
1. Understand how populations of tracajás (river turtles: Podocnemis unifilis) change in response to the construction of hydroelectric dams.......
2. Provide updates of movements of individual tracajás.
3. Generate current information on distribution and abundance of tracajás.
4. Engage with local schools impacted by the hydroelectric development.
5. Inform hydroelectric mitigation actions.
